Karen Facey is a Senior Research Fellow at the Usher Institute of Population Health Sciences and Informatics at the University of Edinburgh (Edinburgh, UK).
In her current role, Facey acts as the lead researcher for the IMPACT Health Technology Assessment Workplace-10 Appraisal of Medicines for Rare Diseases.
Facey’s background is in statistics within the pharmaceutical industry and medicines regulation. Facey served as Non-Executive Director in the Scottish Health Technologies Group (Glasgow, UK) for 8 years and chaired the government committee that created the new funding formula for the NHS. In 2014, Facey was named as one of the top 100 practising scientists in the UK.
Facey holds a Bachelor of Science in Statistics and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Interim Analysis in Clinical Trials.
